Coisolation

investigates the anatomy of city life. Using pictures of passers-by in shopping streets, shopping malls and public places, the painter dissects the human presence in the city – a collective event consisting of parallel but strictly separated courses. The perspective from which the registration has happened testifies to the lack of mutual involvement.

Without – almost any – exception, the paintings are conceived in series. A series of paintings draws its origin from an older work and, in turn, generates new pieces. Self-taken photographs lie at the root of this process. The picture serves as the inceptor for the painting but loses value while working. Indeed, ultimately, only the autonomous pictorial space of the painting and the physical presence of the applied paint remain.
