Entr'act

intermezzo or interlude. Short, usually comedic scene played to entertain the audience between acts of a larger play. The interlude was often used to change the scenery. Originally it also acted as an interruption between the various courses of a meal (source: dbnl.org).

In a similar logic of ephemerality and variety, watercolour is used in this series of studies to play with space, colour, and form in an unconstrained, cheerful way in the aim of stimulating attentive viewing and healthy digestion.

This series was part of Spirits & Landscapes I organised by Ada Van Hoorebeke in 2010 in the WIELS project space in Brussels. Spirits & Landscapes II was reprised at the Grimmuseum in Berlin in the same year.
