Formation Study is a series of three large paintings. Starting from a collage, these paintings reflect the attempt to compress street scenes to one strongly condensed image. Here, the attention is simultaneously drawn to figure and background, colour area and linear expression, descriptive and autonomous brushstroke.

This new way of looking also creates a number of individual portraits where the figure is restrained within the frame and where long brushstrokes form the shapes.
